JEDA Hosts National Facilities Financing Conference in Charleston
COLUMBIA, SC – The S.C. Jobs-Economic Development Authority (JEDA) is hosting a national conference of health and educational facilities financing officials in Charleston in April.
The spring conference of the National Association of Health and Educational Facilities Finance Authorities (NAHEFFA) will be held Wednesday-Friday, April 13-15, at the Renaissance Charleston Historic District Hotel.
“This national conference was much anticipated already, however, we’re also hearing a lot of excitement from attendees and presenters about how they’re looking forward to spending some time in beautiful, historic Charleston. It is, after all, one of the top cities for visitors in the country,” said Harry Huntley, Executive Director of S.C. JEDA.
NAHEFFA works to increase access to tax-exempt financing for not-for-profit healthcare and higher education institutions nationwide, and to help enhance the effectiveness of those organizations and their programs. The group was recently formed as a merger of the National Council of Health Facilities Finance Authorities and the National Association of Higher Educational Facilities Authorities.
Conference topics include state budget impacts on the municipal bond market, economic trends and post-stimulus impacts, and compliance and regulatory changes pending and passed by Congress. Scheduled presenters include S.C. State Treasurer Curtis Loftis, several of the leading bond attorneys in the U.S., a noted economist, bond rating experts from Standard & Poor’s, and facilities capital financing specialists.
“Hosting public and non-profit financing experts from educational institutions and healthcare organizations across the country is an exciting privilege for us,” Huntley said. “The organization now is inviting our associates from the finance industry to join us, too, which should make these conferences even more productive now and going forward.”
